What Is Renal Glucose Threshold
When the sugar in the blood is more than 8.88mmol/L, sugar in the urine will also increase. In clinic, this sugar level is called renal glucose threshold, which can be regarded as the blood glucose concentration when partial renal unites’ reabsorption ability reaches to the maximum. We can also say that when the blood sugar is more than 8.88mmol/L, the glucose in urinalysis will show positive. In addition, renal arterial sclerosis can also lead to the increase of renal glucose threshold. At this time, sugar in urine can also show negative. The damage of renal tubules can also lead to decrease of renal glucose threshold. When the blood glucose is high, the sugar in urine can also show positive. From the above, we can get a conclusion that when diabetes patients have arterial sclerosis, we can not evaluate blood sugar and treatment on the basis of sugar in urine.
