Patients who are diagnosed with diabetes want to know the differences between type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes. Actually, there are many differences between them, which goes as follows:
1. The pathological mechanism is different. Type 1 diabetes is caused by the damaged beta cell. The insulin is in complete insufficiency. Most of them are autoimmune disease. Type 2 diabetes is caused by the not enough secretion of insulin.
2. There is also different on such as age when patients have it, symptoms, and so on. For example, type 1 diabetes usually shows symptoms before 25 years old, and a few can have symptoms after 25. Type 2 diabetes in most of time take place after people are 40 years old or older than this age. In recent years, the patients tend to be younger.
3. Most type 1 diabetes patients have obvious symptoms such as increased thirst, increased urine, increased hunger and obvious decreased body weight. For type 2 diabetes, the symptoms are not obvious and most patients are fat.
4. The treatment between type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes is also different. For type 1 diabetes, patients must inject insulin. Only in this way, can high blood pressure be controlled. For type 2 diabetes, patients can get effective effects by the diet control and taking in medicine orally which can lower blood sugar.
5. Type 1 diabetes patients are more likely to have DKA, and have kidney disease and retinopathy earlier. In contrast, type 2 diabetes are more likely to have coronary heart disease and cerebrovascularaccident.
